Hopefully now that the dust has settled from my big move, my blog can make it back on my priority list. To give me extra encouragement I gave my blog a makeover!

It has been a crazy past couple months. I can’t remember a time in my life that I was this busy! At the end of July I moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia. It was heartbreaking to leave my sweet carolina behind, but grad school and the love of my life were waiting for me in VA.

Moving to Harrisonburg has been a fabulous adventure thus far! Here are a few of my experiences.

First, my new house and new roommates! I have been blessed  with 6 amazing new housemates that I am excited to share our home “Big Love” with. You may be wondering what Big Love” means, well that is the name of our house. There is some debate on how it actually got the name, but that is what we decided to call it and I love it!

Holly, Jes and I!

We have already had some epic adventures. Including a trip to the Rockingham County Fair. Can we say hello John Deere. I realized just how far I had strayed from my California roots. Best part of the fair: hands down the Demolition Derby. Who knew that watching people crash into each other could be so darn entertaining. Anyways the girls are beautifully eclectic group and I am excited to see what the next year has in store for us!!

Next, graduate school. Who knew that it would be this hard (obviously me or I may rethought signing up for this endeavor). I spend my days (sometimes 12hrs) in the ISAT (integrated science and technology) building at JMU. Although I found a niche with some really sweet girls, the workload is enough to send me running for the hills. I just have to keep waking up in the morning determined to not let school steal my joy. This is only one small part of one season of life and I am taking it one day at a time! Christmas break come fast :)

Lastly, by far one of the best things about my new home, is being close to my boy. We are just a short two hours (much better than the previous 6 hrs) away from each other. I have adored seeing him every weekend. It has for sure been worth the out of state tuition to be with him. Here is a picture from our summer adventure to Lake Champion (more tales to come).

Although that is it for now, I will be back! I refuse to let this little blog of mine die!!

Much love!

Blog Worthy??

As many of you have noticed (if anyone actually reads this thing) I have been absent from the blogging world for awhile. When I decided to start this blog, I did so out of my love for other peoples blogs. I am faithful follower of many blogs and love reading what people have to say about their lives. But was this a good enough reason to start my own blog? This is the question I have been struggling with as I attempt to write blogs that will be witty and entertaining, but at the same time insightful. I have tons of drafts. I think I have more blog drafts than actual blogs posts. I actually take time to write drafts but then decide that they just aren’t blog worthy. I really do believe that it is just my own insecurity of what people will think if I really put it all out there. I mean it is my blog, I should write what I want. Or not. I get hung up on this justification. Mostly because we create blogs for other people. I mean if we wanted to write something for just us why not do it in a journal. We write our thoughts on blogs so others will see. So, maybe it is a happy medium of being real and open, while at the same time giving the people what they want. I have not given up on my blogging endeavor yet. I hopeful that with new places and experiences I will inspire new and exciting blog entries. And if not, well then I may give up on my blog and just remain a faithful follower of others!!

The past month has been a crazy exciting one!! Some very cool and monumental things have happened in my life (and No I’m not engaged), including turning 22 and graduating from college. So, lets review!

I technically celebrated my 22nd birthday two weekends in a row, which is an improvement from my usual month long celebration. The first weekend I spent at Edisto beach with some of my favorite gals. We laid out on the beach and got our tan on (burn for some), met some new people (from the country), and saw a great band. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

Morgan and I!

My actual birthday weekend was spent with my wonderful boyfriend Nathan! I went and watched his last club talk in Norfolk (which might I add was stinkin awesome), went to the beach and froze, ate lobsters, saw 17 again (my choice), and road tripped for the day to Harrisonburg to meet some fun new folks. I was treated like a princess and left 21 a lot happier and mature than I came in!!

Next on the review, GRADUATION!! Yup, I did it, I finished college. I graduated with a 3.98 and fourth in my class. Whoop Whoop. After a less than impressive high school career, I showed the world that I do have a pretty cool brain. The weekend was filled with lots of friends and family, and some pretty cool gifts. Here are a few pics from my last day as a Winthrop Eagle.

What now? Well, my immediate future is filled with amusement parks, bachelorette parties, weddings, sleeping in and babysitting. My long term future holds graduate school and lots of new experiences that I am very excited about, so stay tuned!!

Buy a pair.

Hey guys! I was introduced to this movement when I saw my good friend Esther wearing a pair of these shoes. All you have to do is buy a pair of shoes and a child gets a pair too. It is an awesome way to be apart of something great, so don’t be cheap and buy a pair!

Here are a few of my senior photos from my shoot with Hailey! Enjoy!

March has come and gone with no blog love! Reason being, March madness, and no, not the basketball! In the past month I have road tripped to Norfolk more than once, brought the boyfriend home to meet the parents, chose a graduate school, and got a $150 speeding ticket.

Let’s start with the most exciting of my march adventures, bringing Nathan home to meet mom and pops in California! The trip began not exactly as planned when we arrived at the Norfolk airport 2 hours late because I read the arrival time as the departure time on our itenerary. So, a travel day that should have been 7 hours long turned into 12. But, after we got there and the akwardness of bringing my first boyfriend home subsided, we had a wonderful time! We went to Universal Studios with my parents, stayed at my grandparents, got swoll at Venice beach, and went to my surprise 22nd birthday party!

The next monumental happening of March was my acceptance to graduate school. I had the choice between UVA, USC, and JMU. After a lot of stress, prayer, and good wisdom I decided on JMU. Since choosing JMU the Lord has continued to bless my decision by providing me a Graduate Assistantship that will pay for more than half of my out of state fees!! Also, there is a good possibility that Nathan will be placed somewhere is the DC area, only 2 and half hours away from me!! Although I am nervous about all my life transitions, I am so excited to see how God is going to use me and work in my life for the next two years.

JMU here I come!

$150 speeding ticket speaks for itself. Wish there wasn’t a a country between Daddy and I, guess I won’t be getting out of this one!

Graduation is a month away! HOLY MOLY! Stay tuned to find out where the Lord leads me the next couple months!

Lastly, if you live in Rock Hill, come to Chick-fil-a Thursday night and support NSSLHA (National Student Speech Language Hearing Association), we are doing a fundraiser and all you have to do is eat!!

We have all been behind someone on the highway who took their bumper sticker statements too far!! But, in reality I love getting behind the person who has gone crazy with expressing themselves through their bumper stickers. You can find out a person’s hobbies, what kind of music they listen to, their political affiliation, how many people they have in their family, if they have a dog or cat, and what kind of crowd they hang with. It is all a matter of staying behind them long enough to figure out all of these things. Although I will never join in on the phenomenonm it has become a secret joy of mine (I have been doing a lot of driving lately)! Check out some seriously outrageous ones I found in my research on bumper sticker madness!

Yes, those are all Jonas Brothers stickers.

Matt Wertz’s song “I will not take my love away” describes a truth I think we as believers often times forget. In the past week I have felt like my mistakes and screw ups somehow made me unloveable. This is the exact lie that the enemy would like me to believe. That I am unloved or not valuable to my creator. That is crap! God’s love for me is unchanging and can never be taken away. A scripture I have been clinging to in troubled times is Micah 7:18-19, which says, “Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love.”"He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” God’s grace and love are abundant and unchanging, and the sooner we start acting like dearly beloved children of his, the sooner we can really be at peace in that love.

I’m back…

Wow!! After a month of being a huge slacker in the blogger world, I am back to share about my latest life happenings!!!

January was a good month, no, it was a great month!! Filled with family, friends and fun. I spent the first week of January in Cali with the folks, catching up on the time I lost with them while I was in a catatonic state from having the flu over Christmas. Although there are a lot of perks with being home (HBO, free food, good food, my own bathroom, Wii, sleeping in, and extremely entertaining parents), after three weeks I was anxious to get back to my life in Rock Hill. My first weeks home were crazy!!! I worked almost everyday and started my last semester of my college undergraduate career. The highlight of January was MLK weekend in Norfolk with Nathan. It was a wonderful weekend filled with meeting his friends, family and high school doods. I was excited to be immersed in his life for a couple days. We are a pretty great couple, and I am so blessed to have him in life. Now, it is time for him to meet my family, there will without a doubt be a good blog in the making after that adventure!

The boyfriend and I.

The boyfriend and I.

The months excitement didn’t end there,  last weekend I became a jet setter (not completely sure what that means, but it seems fitting)! I flew back to Kentucky for less than 48 hours to bid farewell to my very best friend Alison Medley. She left this past wednesday for Australia where she will be getting her masters at the University of Sydney! Ya, I know, I have really cool friends! The weekend was such a blast, and I think she was sent off with a lot of love and good memories of her last weekend in the states. From dancing on table benches to watching the sad ending of the super bowl, I enjoyed my much needed catchup time with my greatest friends! My only complaint, not enough time. It seems as the years progress my visits to Kentucky become fewer and farther between. Sometimes, growing up can be equally sad as it is exciting! Miss you girls!!

My favorite girls.

My favorite girls.

What now?? Busyness. Between school, work, young life, and what little social life I have, my days are packed! My goal these next couple months is to get away once a week for a sabbath. It is my tendency to let the responsibilities pile up and the weeks roll by without taking a day to spend with the Lord. So, I am making a commitment to slow down and take some time to recharge so I can do everything with excellence! Stay tuned for what I hope to be new and more regular blog entries!
